UPDATED: Gov. Gregoire Involved In Non-Injury Collision On I-5

Neither the governor nor the other driver was injured in the collision. We've also posted some photos of her car's damage sent by the Washington State Patrol.

Earlier Monday afternoon, one of Gov. Christine Gregoire’s official vehicles was sideswiped by another car as she returned to Olympia from a Seattle-area event, according to a statement from Chief John Batiste of the Washington State Patrol.

Neither the governor nor the other driver was injured in the collision, which occurred on Interstate 5 near state Route 516 in Des Moines at approximately 2 p.m.

The governor was accompanied by a security detail from the State Patrol, as is official protocol. Other troopers responded to the scene to investigate the collision. The governor has since returned to Olympia. Gov. Gregoire is transported in a variety of different vehicles; today she was traveling in a Suburban.
