Environmental Services Building Lobby Reopens Tuesday

The county was able to reuse doors and take other measures that were environmentally friendly.

Pierce County says the lobby at the will open at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday.

According to its monthly update: "The safety and security improvements to the main entrance and lobby area of the Environmental Services Building are nearing completion. Sticking with our mantra of 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle' the project was able to reuse doors, carpeting, steel wall studs, HVAC and lighting fixtures, decorative wood and steel features and furniture. The purchasing of new materials was kept to a minimum."

The judges stated that the sheer size of the project is a “huge and stunning effort. This project is worthy of recognition because it unites people, Puget Sound and uplands for the first time in over 150 years. This bridge project was a smart partnership.”
