ELECTIONS UPDATE: Chris Nye Goes For Position 6 On City Council

Offices for both the University Place City Council and the University Place School Board are up for grabs.

Another new face will vie for the University Place City Council.

University Place City Council

As announced earlier on Patch, challengers , and all filed for office.

Campbell is vying for Position 6, currently held by Councilman Gerald Gehring.

On Thursday, Chris Nye threw in his hat in the race for Position 6.

Keel is challenging for Position 2, which Mayor Debbie Klosowski currently holds. She that she doesn't intend to seek re-election.

On Wednesday, Steve Smith made his candidacy official for Position 2.

Lee is shooting for Position 7, which incumbent .

Around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Belleci officially filed for the position.

 

University Place School Board

A race is shaping up for Position 3, the spot currently held by City Council candidate Keel.

Annie Fitzsimmons and Nick Tennison have filed for Keel's spot.

Also, incumbents Mary Lu Dickinson (Position 4) and Rick Maloney (Position 5) filed for re-election Monday.

Christine Kilduff, who was appointed to Position 1 in March after , is seeking election to the position.

 

West Pierce Fire & Rescue

For the University Place half of the department's 10-member board of directors, incumbent Daniel Rankin has filed for re-election to Position 3.

 

For nonpartisan positions, if three or more candidates file for a single position, voters will decide in the primary election which two candidates will face each other in November. Patch will update the University Place-related candidate filings throughout the week.
