Today, Nye's campaign issued a press release regarding his background and qualifications:

Chris Nye, who serves on the University Place Economic Development Commission and is the Founder of the MLS4owners.com real estate advertising company, announced his candidacy for the open position #6 on the University Place City Council.

Said Nye, “As a small business owner and former Special Forces Officer, I can appreciate that University Place faces challenges and opportunities such as the completion of our Town Center and preparations for the 2015 US Open.  Responding to these challenges and opportunities will take some creative and critical thinking.  A group of strong leaders with conviction, energy and ideas can make it happen.  I have a track record of developing unique systems that solve customers’ problems while saving them money.”

“The most important lessons I learned as a commander in Special Forces were to do more with less, and to absolutely know the purpose of the mission. Knowing the “why” of the mission, I often can find a better solution to accomplish the goal. That is the problem solving approach I bring to the City.”

“My wife Teresa and I chose to live and grow our business here because we believe in UP! I embrace the opportunities of the campaign, meeting new friends and neighbors. I truly believe there are no strangers in University Place, just friends I haven’t met yet.”

The campaign kickoff event is at Fircrest Golf Club between 5:30-6:30 pm on Wednesday June 22.
