City Celebrates Completion Of Grandview Safety Project

The improvements include sidewalks, pavement, streetlights, bike lanes and a pair of speed radar signs.

The City of University Place celebrated the completion of a $782,000 million safety upgrade to a busy section of Grandview Drive West today.

Students and staff from nearby joined Mayor Debbie Klosowski at the project's official ribbon-cutting.

The is the first of two recently completed Safe Routes to Schools projects for which the city received state grants totaling $1.4 million.

As a major route serving University Place Primary, Grandview Drive has been one of the most requested locations in the city for new sidewalks. The grant allowed the city to install 2,400 linear feet of sidewalk and bikelanes, 19 streetlights, improved street crossings and a set of speed radar signs along between 19thΒ and 27th Streets West.
