Candidates Forum Scheduled For Next Thursday At University Place City Hall

The forum - hosted by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chapter of the League of Women Voters - will feature candidates for the 28th District in the state Legislature and Pierce County Council. It's scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Tacoma-Pierce County Chapter of the League of Women Voters will moderate a Candidate Forum on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at University Place City Hall, 3715 Bridgeport Way West, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Forum will include candidates who represent University Place in the local races for Pierce County Council District 4 and Legislative District 28 Positions 1 and 2.

Candidates for Pierce County Council District 4 are Connie Ladenburg and Ken J. Grassi. Legislative District 28 is represented by two positions: Steve O'Ban and Eric Choiniere are vying for Position 1, while incumbent Tami Green and Paul Wagemann are seeking Position 2. The forum is scheduled to last for approximately one and a half hours.

Citizens are encouraged to attend and provide their questions during the forum to the League of Women Voters, who will be moderating the evening's event. Candidates will also present opening and closing statements as well as answer a few questions specific to University Place.

This forum will be taped for University Place Television (UPTV) so that citizens who are not able to attend have an opportunity to watch it later. Once the public forum is on-air, viewing times will be posted on the City's website at www.CityofUP.com. UPTV is available for viewing within the City of University Place city limits on Click! Channel 12 and Comcast Channel 21.

The date for the General Election is Nov. 6, 2012. New voters can register in person through Monday, Oct. 29 at the Pierce County Election Center, 2501 S. 35th St., Suite C.
