Burn Ban Lifted Today

Pierce County lifted the ban due to current climate conditions and recent rains.

The burn ban in unincorporated Pierce County was lifted at 8 a.m., today, due to current climate conditions and recent rain.

Tom Poste, interim Pierce County fire marshal, announced the decision was reached by the Washington Department of Natural Resources, the Pierce County Fire Chiefs' Association and the fire marshals of Pierce, Kitsap, King and Mason counties.

The lifting of the fire safety burn ban does not affect areas in Pierce County where burning is prohibited because of environmental or pollution laws, or in areas where the local fire district limits or prohibits burning.
