Blue Postcards Mean You've Been Summoned

Pierce County has a new, more user-friendly system to let people know that they've got jury duty.

(Note: This is from Pierce County's website)

Pierce County Superior Court mailed its first batch of Jury Summons Notices using blue postcards.

The postcards replace the double-sided, legal-size Summons form previously used by Pierce County to notify prospective jurors they have been selected for jury duty.

The postcard instructs prospective jurors to go to the Pierce County Juror Response web page or to call the new Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system and answer a series of questions that will qualify individuals for jury duty. Prospective jurors will also be given the one-time opportunity to request a postponement to a different date or ask to be excused for reasons such as financial hardship, employment conflict, health conditions, etc.

This project was designed to cut the cost of postage and printing as well as reduce the amount of time that Superior Court staff spend on data entry from the questionnaire portion of the current form.

If you have been selected for jury duty with a report date of July 18, expect to receive the blue postcard notice within the next couple of weeks.
