19th Street West to Get New Sidewalks

About 2,000 feet of linear sidewalk will be installed on the south side of 19th St. W., from Bridgeport Way to Mildred Street.

19th Street West is getting 2,000 feet of ADA-accessible sidewalk, making it easier to walk down 19th St. W. from Bridgeport Way to the James Center businesses on Mildred Street.

"This is an important, much-needed project," said UP Mayor Ken Grassi at the May 6, 2013 regular council meeting.

The council approved a construction bid of $99,213 to build the sidewalk, which should be completed by June, 2013. Funds were available for the project through a $105,000 grant from the Pierce County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The city did not have to match any of the funding for this project.
