West Pierce's Peter Kilga Finishes Seattle Firefighter Stair Climb with Third Best Overall Time

The firefighter climbed 69 flights of steps in 11 minutes, 51 seconds. Overall, 30 members of West Pierce Fire & Rescue competed in the event benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

SEATTLE-Climbing 69 flights of stairs is hard enough, but doing so with 80 pounds of firefighter gear weighing down your body is downright grueling.

Peter Kilga somehow makes it look easier year after year.

The West Pierce Fire & Rescue member finished with the third best overall time (11 minutes, 51 seconds) out of 1,550 participants at the Scott's Firefighter Stairclimb on Sunday at the Columbia Center.

Last year at the climb that benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Kilga finished with the ninth overall fastest time up the building.

The 39-year-old finished only two seconds behind the second-place overall finisher. The top time belonged to Andrew Drobeck of Missoula (MT) City Fire at 10 minutes, 39 seconds. (Click here to view all results)
