West Pierce Professional Firefighters Local 1488 wants to help struggling University Place and Lakewood families this holiday, but it needs your help.

The union is holding its annual Christmas Project, which involves donating new, unwrapped toys, clothes and food.

The drive, the main one in University Place, lasts to Dec. 19. Residents can drop off items at any of the following locations:

  • West Pierce Fire & Rescue, Station 31, 3631 Drexler Drive West
  • Forza Coffee Company, 2700 Bridgport Way West
  • Forza Coffee Company, 4828 Bridgeport Way West

Over the weekend, the local firefighters kicked off the Christmas Project by purchasing some toys at Target in Lakewood.

On Dec. 20-22, the firefighers will deliver the toys via (of course) fire engine.

Come on, University Place and Lakewood, let's help our firefighters make this holiday special for some local families.
