University Place Crime Stats: Residential Vandalism, Motor Vehicle Thefts Up
The stats, which are available through the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, are for October.
A check of the monthly crime statistics for University Place via the Pierce County Sheriff's Department show the following changes from September to October, which are the latest numbers availabe:
-UP saw an uptick in residential vandalism;
-UP experienced the second-highest number of vehicle thefts this year.

Residential vandalism
Maybe it was some Halloween shenanigans, but University Place Police reported 22 incidents of residential vandalism, according to the website.

That was up compared to 13 reports in September, and it's the second highest compared to 24 in May.
Year to date, residential vandalism is up about 16 percent in University Place.
Motor vehicle theft
Authorities also recorded seven motor vehicle thefts, bringing this year's total to 55.
That figure is up from two motor vehicle thefts in September. It's the second-highest this year (10 in January, seven in July).
Year to date, however, vehicle thefts are down compared to the prior year.
Other statistics
-The number of shoplifting reports was down compared to September. However, shoplifting reports are up by almost two-thirds compared to last year.
-Aggravated results increased from one in September to four in October.
