University Place Police Catch Alleged Burglars in the Act

A deputy responded a report of a burglary in the 4800 block of 71st Avenue Court West, where he found two suspects allegedly with a pillow case full of stolen items from the home.

University Place Police arrested two alleged burglars with the goods in their hands Tuesday.

Authorities got a call from a witness around 3 p.m., Tuesday who was reporting two adult men who kicked in a neighbor's front door in the 4800 block of 71st Avenue Court West.

A deputy, according to Interim Chief Mike Blair, was tending to a shoplift report at the nearby Durg Store and broke from there to the reported burglary. The deputy found the suspects' care parked and running in the driveway of the home.

The deputy made his way to the front door, which had been damaged extensively from forced entry. He made his way inside and "heard voices upstairs," Blair said.

The deputy made his way up and ordered the suspects to comply at gunpoint before other UP Police units arrived. The deputy reported that the suspect, one of whom is a transient and the other is from the Orchard Corridor, "had a pillow-case full of items, and drawers and cupboards had been ransacked."
