University Place Police arrested a man who allegedly broke into Umpqua Bank, caused havoc and was found sleeping under a teller counter.
Authorities received a call shortly before 7 p.m., Wednesday night, after a courier driver noticed the bank's glass doors had been shattered, according to Chief Mike Blair. Deputies arrived and found overturned tables and chairs, broken computers and urine on the counters, he said.
Blair says they found a man sleeping under the teller counter. The suspect was unresponsive to deputies' verbal commands and "smelled highly of intoxicants." He fought when deputies tries to handcuff him, so they used a taser to get him to cooperate, Blair said.
The man, who hasn't been charged, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary, first-degree malicious mischief and resisting arrest. The suspect also had a warrant out for indecent exposure.
