University Place Fire Sends Man To Hospital

West Pierce Fire & Rescue crews responded to the fire around 5:30 p.m., tonight to find a house's garage fully engulfed in flames. They had to proceed cautiously because there was a 100-gallon propane tank inside the garage.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. this evening, West Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a 911 call for garage fire, located at 9724 54th Street Court West in University Place.

Crews arrived to a garage fully engulfed in flames.

Upon arrival, crews attacked the fire until they realized there was a 100-gallon propane tank inside the garage. They then moved to using the deck gun to cool the tank and fight the fire. Firefighters have since gained control of the fire and have transported one adult male to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
