University Place Blotter: Thief Burglarizes Home While Distracting Homeowner and More

Residential Burglary: On March 27, an unknown person(s) kicked open the rear door at a home in the 4600 block of 78th Avenue Court West and stole several items inside including a laptop, jewelry and coins.

Residential Burglary: On March 27, police responded to a home in the 8300 block of Cirque Drive West regarding a burglary. The victim told police that an unknown man came to her door asking for any type of work. It appeared the male subject showed up on foot, but he stated that he and a friend were both in the area checking around for work. The victim initially declined but eventually agreed to let the unknown male do some raking. The victim went to gather some tools, and as she walked back to her front door, she observed the man on her porch with her dog, which had been inside the house. The victim asked the subject how the dog got out, and the subject said he did not know. The subject told the victim he was going to grab the recycling bin from the road, but he never returned. The victim went inside and noticed $40 cash missing from her purse. The victim later discovered that several rings and pairs of earrings were missing from the bathroom.

Vehicle Prowl: On March 28, an unknown person(s) smashed the driver's window of a car in the 4900 block of Grandview Drive West and stole the victim's purse, which contented her checkbook, credit cards, driver's license and cell phone. 

Vandalism: Sometime between March 29 and April 1, an unknown person(s) slashed the left front tire of the victim's car that was parked in the 2600 block of Mountain View Avenue West.

Vehicle Prowl: On March 29, police were dispatched to Chambers Bay Golf Course in reference to a vehicle prowl. An unknown person(s) broke the front driver's window to access the trunk that contained the victim's purse. Inside the bag were a wallet, driver's license, Health Savings Account Card and a debit card. The thief also took the victim's iPad 2. After the victim canceled her debit card, the bank informed her that an unknown suspect attempted to use the card at the Lakewood Target. The thief managed to charge $142 on the victim's Health Savings Account Card at the same Target.

Vehicle Prowl: On March 30, an unknown person(s) broke both side windows of a car in the 2800 block of Grandview Drive West and stole the hard top from the vehicle.

Vandalism: On March 31, an unknown person(s) slashed two tires on the victim's car that was parked in the 6600 block of 36th Street West.

Theft: On April 1, the victim was filling out some paperwork at Wells Fargo on Bridgeport Way West. He briefly walked away with his wallet still on the island counter. When he returned, the wallet was missing. 

Vandalism: On April 2, police responded to vehicle vandalism in the 7300 block of 35th Street West. An unknown person(s) smashed the passenger side window of the victim's work van. Nothing was missing from the vehicle. Estimated damage $200.

Residential Burglary: On April 3, an unknown person(s) entered a home in the 5500 block of 61st Street West and stole two televisions and two Comcast TV boxes.
