The Need For Speed? Not in University Place

The city is conducting a workshop Tuesday night to partner with neighbors to reduce speeding in neighborhoods, particularly residential and school areas.

We’ve all seen them.

Speed radar signs help give peace of mind to neighbors. They also remind drivers to ease up on the gas pedal.

On Tuesday, University Place Police will conduct a neighborhood speed radar class to help residents partner with police to reduce speeding.

UP drivers might have already some of the city’s efforts to curb driving too fast.  As part of a grant, the city installed a radar sign on Grandview Drive near 19th Street West.

“Speeding continues to be a problem in every community,” according to Public Safety Manager Jennifer Hales. “We need your help in sending a message to neighborhood speeders.”

The workshop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Public Safety Building, 3631 Drexler Drive W.
