Teenage Runaway Prompts Lockdown at Narrows View Intermediate on Friday

Principal Eric Brubaker sent a letter to families on Friday.

Today, Narrows View Intermediate School went into lockdown as a school resource officer was searching for a teenage runaway.

The following message was sent to Narrows View families on Friday, and it's posted on the University Place School District website

Good morning!  This is Eric Brubaker, principal of Narrows View Intermediate School with an important safety message.  At 10:20 A.M. this morning we went into a Precautionary Lockdown due to our School Resource Officer, Deputy Cooney, entering our building in pursuit of a teenage runaway.  The unarmed suspect was only on our campus briefly before running across the street toward Sunset Bible Church. At 10:40, Deputy Cooney contacted the school to inform us that the suspect was in custody.  Due to the safety procedures we have in place all students and staff responded quickly and appropriately to the Precautionary Lockdown.  Student safety is our number one priority.  It would be natural for students to share with you that they were scared or nervous.  Please take a moment this afternoon or evening to discuss the incident with your child.
