REPORT: Lakewood Man Dies From Fall While Hiking With Son in Chelan County

The Lake Chelan Mirror reports that a search party dicovered the body of William Berry, 40, in a boulder field near the Lake Donald area Saturday.

A man from Lakewood died over the weekend when he fell some 300 feet into a boulder field while hiking with his son near the Lake Donald area of Chelan County over the weekend.

According to the Lake Chelan Mirror, a search party discovered the body of William Berry, 40, in a boulder field. According to the report, Berry had been hiking with his son:

Berry and his son had hiked from High Camp to fish at Lake Donald during the day. Berry chose to take a different route back to High Camp via Loch Eileen. As Berry and his son were traversing down the steep boulder field on the southwest side of the lake, Berry lost his footing and tumbled 200-300 feet.

According to authorities, the Berry told his 9-year-old son to head back to the camp for help. The son made it back and a search party eventually ensued.
