Police: Early Morning Activity Wednesday on Grandview Involved DUI Collision

The driver was a 21-year-old University Place woman whose blood alcohol level was allegedly more than three times the legal limit. She flattened three tires going through a roundabout.

An alert Patch user's question helped shed some light on some early morning activity Wednesday along Grandview Drive West.

University Place Patch Facebook user Lisa asked the following: "Anybody heard the car accident last night at the roundabout at Grandview and Olympic? It was around 2AM.... fire dept. police etc."

"People need to slow down , all night long they drive so fast down Grandview."

I checked with UP Police Chief Mike Blair about the incident, and he answered:

She exhibited extreme signs of intoxication and was arrested on-scene. Breath samples were obtained and the blood alcohol level was measured at .286 and .279, more than three times the legal limit.

Thanks for the information, Chief Blair, and more importantly, thanks for the tip, Lisa. I can't be everywhere at once, so it really helps to have users' eyes and ears out there.
