Police Blotter, March 14

Aside from a few interesting incidents, it was fairly quiet in University Place.

A sword-and-ax-wielding man, a harassing bank customer and a suspicious fire highlight this week’s police blotter.

Other than that, things were fairly quiet.

March 3

-A stereo was reported stolen out of a parked car at Chambers Bay Golf Course around 7 a.m.

-A fire was reported in a one-bedroom apartment at the Hidden Vale Apartments in the 5700 block of 59th Street Court West was under investigation. The occupant said the bedroom filled with smoke. A cause has yet to be determined.

 

March 4

-Police responded to a report that someone broke into a car around 7 p.m., in the 4600 block of Alameda Avenue West. A GPS was reportedly stolen.

-A suspect who opened an account at the Key Bank at 4001 Bridgeport Way West was allegedly harassing employees.

 

March 8

-Authorities responded to a report of a 52-year-old man who was threatening to kill himself around 5:30 p.m., in the 6200 block of Lakewood Drive West. He allegedly made threats against officers as well, at one point brandishing a sword and ax to an officer who came to the door. Eventually, however, officers convinced the man, who has a history of mental illness issues, to give himself up and go to St. Claire Hospital.
