Nothing Hostile About Round Table Takeover Event Today

Well, there might be some debate between the police and fire guys over who can better serve the best pizza pie. Either way, proceeds benefit the University Place parks and recreation programs.

They say it's an innocent takeover but last year I sensed a smidgen of hostility at the Takeover Day.

Sure, a portion of all sales between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., benefitted University Place parks and recreation programs, but the event also brought together the community's fire and police departments.

In the same room. With lots of pizza dough. And dirty dishes.

Yikes.

While no injuries or melees were reported, there was plenty of ribbing and joshing among the two groups. () What will happen this year?

You can find out Tuesday, when UP will have another Round Table Pizza Takeover Day. Same format as last year: a portion of all sales between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., will benefit University Place's parks and recreation programs.

And again, members of and will be serving up the pizza pies at the restaurant at 7011 27th Street W.

Bring your appetite, and perhaps a helmet.Β After all, you never know what's gonna happen when UP's police and fire personnel get together.
