FROM PATCHES NEARBY: Drunk Driver Injures State Trooper in Vehicle Collision

Both sustain minor injuries during early Saturday morning accident at the intersection of Highway 512 and South Tacoma Way in Lakewood.

An intoxicated driver crashed into a 24-year-old state trooper's patrol car early Saturday at a Lakewood intersection, according toΒ Komo News 4.Β The accident caused minor injuries to both.

The 25-year-old man was driving south on South Tacoma Way in a 2010 Chevy SUV when he hit the trooper's 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, Komo News reported.

Alcohol or drugs are believed to be involved in the accident, which had no passengers.

The suspect was transported to Madigan Army Medical Center for treatment of his minor injuries, and the trooper was taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

The crash is under investigation and charges are pending, according to State Patrol.
