Fire Department Fall Fun Day Is Oct. 29
The annual West Pierce Fire & Rescue event will feature a pumpkin patch, booths and more at the station off Drexler Drive West. It's one of two fire department events scheduled for this month.
The University Place community’s annual Fire Department Fall Fun Day is scheduled Oct. 29, which means pumpkins, candy, animals and plenty of smiling faces.
The free event – a tradition for West Pierce Fire & Rescue – runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at . Rain or shine, the department says, kids and their families undoubtedly enjoy the activities.

For the food drive, the fire department asks visitors to bring one non-perishable food item for F.U.N.

15th Annual Safety Pumpkin Patch
The Fall Fun Day is one of two events that West Pierce Fire & Rescue is holding this month to celebrate the changing of the seasons.
In Lakewood, West Pierce will hold its 15th Annual Safety Pumpkin Patch on Oct. 22. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Station 21, 5000 Steilacoom Boulevard SW.
Here are some highlights:
-Custom-fit helmets, including bike ($7), Multi-sport style ($10) and ski helmets, $15. Cash only.
-Car seat check
-Spin the “wheel of safety”
-Learn about fire and life safety
-Play in the Lakewood Parks Jumpy Castle
-Food drive. Please bring a non-perishable food item
-Kids get a free pumpkin

West Pierce reminds everyone of some general Halloween safety tips, including:
-Make sure you can be seen and watch for cars
-Trick-or-treat with an adult or group
-Have an adult check treats before eating them
-Only visit houses with a light on
