E-MAIL TO THE EDITOR: Fire Chief Says "Thank You" To Voters

Voters approved West Pierce Fire & Rescue's levy replacement Tuesday, and the money will account for almost a quarter of the district's operating budget in 2012-13.

(This was a statement released today by after voters approved its )

Fire Chief Ken Sharp would like to thank the citizens of West Pierce Fire & Rescue for their support and passage of our levy this week.Β

"I would like to thank the voters of our fire district for their overwhelming support of our levy.Β  We have worked diligently over the past two years to merge two high functioning fire departments, Lakewood and University Place, working closely with the communities and our employees to provide the same high level of service our citizens have come to expect.Β  This levy affords us the opportunity to continue to provide these services, while at the same time allowing us to work toward greater efficiencies in the most cost effective manner possible.
