UPDATE: Condo Fire South of University Place Displaces 10 People

This morning around 8:30 a.m., West Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to a possible condominium fire at the Bluffs, located at 8373 Zircon Drive SW in Lakewood.  Crews were able to see the smoke from the fire station and arrived to find flames visible through the roof. 

The fire started in an upstairs unit, where the resident was sleeping and alerted by the smoke alarm. The fire started in the bedroom and was accidental in nature upon completion of the investigation. 

All of the residents in the six units were able to safely evacuate the building and there were no injuries. The Red Cross is helping those in need of temporary housing, as approximately 10 residents were displaced by this fire.
