City To Recognize Officer Of The Year Mike Blair
The University Place Police sergeant was named the Pierce County Sheriff's Department's Officer Of The Year for his efforts working with families of fallen officers.
Some of University Place Police Sgt. Mike Blair's biggest contributions to community don't get lots of attention.
But to the people he's helping - the families of fallen officers in particular - they mean the world.
Blair, who was named the Pierce County Sheriff's Department's Officer Of The Year, is scheduled to get some well-deserved recognition by the University Place City Council tonight.

In particular, city leaders plan to recognize "his leadership as the supervisor of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Peer Support Team," according to its proposed proclamation. "This team works to support department members and their families when an officer is lost."
"Blair implemented modifications of the team, met with members on a regular basis and arranged for training. He prepared a new protocol for team deployment benefiting the families and the family liaison," the proclamation read.

"Sergeant Blair continues to support our families of fallen officers, serves as PIO when needed, and is a member of the Sheriff’s Communication Team. Sergeant Blair exemplifies the core values of responsibility and compassion."
