The News Tribune reported that the soldier - who recently returned home from a tour overseas - had gotten into an argument with his recently divorced wife at his home at 130th Street and Meridian Avenue just outside Puyallup about 8:30 p.m., Sunday night.

Police told the newspaper that while his ex-wife escaped, he was inside with his daughter refusing to talk. The SWAT team forced his way into the house and found the 2-year-old girl safe. The soldier was gone.
