Here's a report from University Place Police Chief Mike Blair about today's incident:
An elderly female was pulling into the parking stall and accelerated into the set of windows. Two large panes were shattered but no major structural damage was suffered. No injuries to anyone but the vehicle had to be towed away due to damage.

Here are some text messages that Patch user JJ - who witnessed the crash - sent to me as this incident unfolded today. The first text came shortly before 11 a.m.:
Guess what happend about 2 minutes after I walked out of Safeway today? Just now at 40th. Driver taken by ambulance, no passenger that I saw.
Later:
Glass front busted out. Police doing a search now.
Then
Teen girl just showed up asking for Mom ... There are 2 cars, 3 engines in response. They were just searching car, but came up empty (that I saw)

Police are on the scene at Safeway at Green Firs Shopping Center in University Place, where a car reportedly crashed into the store today.
