UPDATE: Burglars Are Cutting Power To University Place Businesses

Although not much merchandise has been taken, University Place Police issued a Code Red telephone message to businesses.

There was one major victim of the burglaries.

The Peace Out group was one of the ones that got hit. In fact, someone took an iPad.

The University Place group put the word out and is trying to raise money to purchase a new iPad online. Here was the latest update on the group's Facebook page:

"THIS IS UNREAL!!!!!!! IN TWO HOURS, WE HAVE RAISED $290 FOR HER NEW IPAD! Only $209 to go!!!!!! WOW talk about changing a negative into a positive!!!!!"

Over the last few weeks, burglars have cut power and broke into several University Place businesses along Bridgeport Way West.

Not much merchandise or money has been stolen, but it's concerning enough that University Place Police issued a Code Red telephone alert today to businesses.

Sgt. Mike Blair says the incidents occurred at businesses near 27th Street West and 40th Street West.

One of those businesses, according to University Place City Councilwoman Caroline Belleci, included

Authorities hope businesses and residents will watch for any suspicious activity and, if necessary, call police.
