UPDATE: Boy Who Triggered Amber Alert Safe In Bonney Lake

The City of University Place posted the alert on its website shortly before 10 a.m., this morning.

A Chehalis boy who triggered a statewide Amber Alert this morning is safe in Bonney Lake, according to Bonney Lake Police.

According to KOMO News, Dustin Reed, 35, took his son Jacek Reed, 4, from a family counseling center in Chehalis around 9:15 a.m. and assaulted a friend of the boy's mother by running them over with his car while fleeing the scene. According to the initial Amber Alert, the suspect is "on anti-depressants and has access to weapons as is active military." Reed is an active-duty soldier stationed at Fort Knox in Kentucky and is on leave.

Bonney Lake Police was alerted by Chehalis PD after a 'ping' on Reed's cell phone put him in Bonney Lake. At 2:18 p.m., Bonney Lake police officers were dispatched to the Fred Meyer area and located the suspect vehicle in the strip mall between Safeway and Fred Meyer. Reed and the child were found inside the car and were taken into custody without incident, said Bonney Lake police officer Terry Carter.
