The following crime and arrest information has been supplied by the University Place Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 14, 2013

Baby left in car: A 21-month-old boy was taken into protective custody after police say his 20-year-old mother left him in his baby seat while she went in and shopped at the Fred Meyer in the 6300 block of Bridgeport Way W. The woman told police at first she just went inside for a few minutes to use the bathroom. But she later said she had been inside about 45 minutes. She smelled of marijuana, had some in her purse along with a pipe, and said she was a regular user of that and liquid hashish. She told police she had a medical marijuana card but didn’t have it with her. She also told police she was four months pregnant and said she would stop smoking drugs. The baby was taken into protective custody, and the mother was released.
