Authorities Searching For University Place Home Invasion Suspect

A man forced his way into a victim's residence and locked her in the bathroom on Sunday.

University Place Police are searching for a man who locked an elderly woman in her bathroom as he stole items from her home.

The suspect forced his way into the 84-year-old woman's home in the 2700 block of Mountain View Avenue West as she unloaded groceries, according to Interim Police Chief Mike Blair. He pushed the woman down, before helping her back to her feet and locking her in the bathroom.

The suspect then stole jewelry, cash and prescription medication.

The suspect is described as a 30- to 35-year-old black male; 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing a black stocking cap, a black winter coat and black athletic pants.
