9/11 MEMORIAL RIDE: Day Five
The riders are making their way through the U.S., and they've seen corn. Lots of it.
(Editor's note:Β , four firefighters from West Pierce Fire & Rescue are riding their motorcycles cross-country to New York for the 10-year anniversary of 9/11. They are providing daily dispatches to Patch)
We left Sioux Falls this morning at 7 a.m.
We had 460 miles to ride. Iowa has a lot of corn - that's why there are no more pictures today because it would be just corn! We picked up a few riders from the 2nd District there and Travis rejoined the groupΒ a couple hundred miles later. I rode up near the front today and it's amazing looking in my mirrors, bikes as far as I can see, two by two. I'll try to add someones pictures of that soon.

We road into Illinois and saw........corn. Lots of corn. One picture at a gas stop doesn't do justice to the number of bikes there. A group from California and Arizona was there too!
When we arrived in Ottowa, IL, we rode to the Harley shop, a couple of blocks from our motel,Β where the union local had a great bbq waiting for us. The shop was literally surrounded by corn fields. This time we got steaks, beans, salads and drinks, but no corn!
