Charles Wright Teams Wins Ultimate State Tournament
Tacoma, Wash. - Charles Wright Academy's Middle and Upper School teams won the ultimate tournament.
Literally...the Tacoma private school has not one, but two championship teams. having won both the Middle School and Upper School divisions. Ultimate is team sport played using flying discs and is wildly popular among teens and young adults. The two teams were competing in Fall Drizzle, an annual Ultimate tournament held at Skagit River Park in Burlington, Wash., on Oct. 26-27. Both teams posted perfect 4-0 records on their way to win the Middle School and Upper School divisions.
The Charles Wright Upper School team dominated all four games, beating teams from across Washington state and British Columbia. Student athletes from all four Upper School grades led the CWA club team to their first-ever Fall Drizzle championship.
This is the seventh year of the tournament, hosted by Western Washington University's (WWU) women's Ultimate team. CWA has participated every year. Charles Wright alumna Natalie Powell, who used to play in the tournament, now helps run the two-day event for WWU.
