Have you heard of Dance-Walking? How about the new HAPPY song by Pharrell Williams? Well, the volunteers at UPVC figured out how to combine both, making U.P. park clean ups a BLAST!
WE NEED HELP at the Curran Apple Orchard this month, said an email to the U.P. Volunteer Center. OK, we're on it, was their reply. 20 calls and only 4 volunteers later, UPVC was discouraged to say the least. Let's face it, unless you like to prune or drag branches, you may not be excited to volunteer on a sunny Saturday.
OMG, what if we dance-walked to the volunteer project? What if we had a police escort? What if we had loud, fun, inspiring music to prune and pile branches to? What if we dressed crazy, carried signs, and paid our volunteers pretend money to spend in our new volunteer store? YESSSSS!!! One day later they had 20 volunteers ready to work!
Sound like fun? Well, they are doing it again and they would LOVE you to join them. Saturday, April 26th, UPVC will leave Applebees and dance-walk their way back to Curran Apple Orchard. WHOO HOOO!
