"ARTS ARE EDUCATION" CHANGES LIVES THROUGH DANCE ~ Free Performance Today at Oakwood Elementary

Studies and testing have shown that if children are exposed to classical music at an early age it helps build their neural pathways—pathways directly responsible for spatial, memory and language development. Adding the visual component of dance intensifies the effect. Be thoroughly immersed in a life changing experience through the art of dance. Dance Theatre Northwest will  include excerpts from Swan Lake, Paquita, Nutcracker and other classics; Broadway and musical theatre pieces; and, area art inspired pieces. Fitness, health, art history, science, math, music, and language education components will be included in the accompanying lecture. Oakwood school students will also be participating in some simple self-expression and dance exercises learned at pre-performance workshops. Free and open to the public ~ Handicapped accessible. Oakwood Elementary School, 3230 85th street South, Lakewood, WA 98499 More information: www.DTNW.org
