VIDEO: Washington Army National Guard Members Get Survival Training in Thailand

The local team members learned everything from what plants are edible to which traps can help you catch a meal if trying to survive in the jungle.

Do you think you could survive the jungles Thailand?

To do so, it might be a good idea to learn how to slice a frog, skin a gecko, spot an edible plant and possess other survival skills.

Members of the Washington Army National Guard got a crash course in survival last month during a visit to Thailand. They were teaching infantry techniques and procedures to the Army there.

Then, the teachers learned a little about surviving the jungles of Southeast Asia.

"You can actually tell they lived it, which is absolutely amazing," says SFC Jesse Miles, Washington Army National Guard Trainer. "It wasn't something that they learned from a book. Their survival techniques are definitely at high standards, and I think that is something we can actually use."
