VIEWFINDER: Memorial, Vigil For JBLM Airman Killed in Motorcycle Crash

An outpouring of support continues to grow for Ty Barnes, 23, who flipped his motorcycle on Reid Drive Northwest.

The Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Gig Harbor communities are offering an outpouring of support for Ty Barnes, the airman who died in a motorcycle crash Monday night.

Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesperson Det. Ed Troyer said Barnes was on his way home when he left the roadway on a sweeping right-hand curve and hit a large rock.

Barnes, who had been at JBLM for some four months, was a senior airman who was posthumously promoted to staff sergeant.
