REPORT: JBLM Soldier Dies in Afghanistan

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Sgt. Nicholas Dickhut, 23, died in firefight in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province.

A Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier has reportedly died in Afghanistan.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Sgt. Nicholas Dickhut, 23, was killed during a firefight in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province. His parents reportedly spoke to the newspaper.

Dickhut was a forward observer with an Army unit from JBLM and was attached to the 82nd Airborne, the newspaper reports. It was his second deployment to Afghanistan.
