University Place Festival, a day of fun, food and festivities for the whole family.
It’s that time of year again to celebrate the anniversary of University Place’s cityhood. This year the city turns 17 years old!
University Place Festival will be held Saturday August 4, 2012 from 10:00am until 11:00 pm. The festival is a time of family fun, filled with activities for all ages, live music from 10:00 am until 7:30 pm and this year, the Disney Pixar movie “UP” will be shown at 9:00 pm.
It all happens at Cirque Park on Cirque Drive just east of Bridgeport Way. Events include a Kids Zone, Cirque Slam at the skateboard park, Congo Productions Drum Circle, ESPN Deportes Soccer Clinic, the Hogs/Hosers and CAB softball games and for those who love watermelon, a watermelon eating contest!

The day long event has tasty food concessions, and lots of vendor booths filled with arts and crafts. Cheers West will host a beer and wine garden. Pierce West Fire Department and Pierce County Sheriff will have vehicles on display and JBLM will have a Blackhawk helicopter parked on the lawn.
The live music stage will host the 2012 winner of the Battle of the Bands, Cloud Chowder, Rich Wentzel’s Groovin’ Jazz Orchestra, Maia Santell & House Blend, Rock n’ Roll Magic and Shambala. Seating is festival style on the lawn.
