Veterans Benefits Q&A Coffee

Peninsula retirement community, located at 3445 50th St. Ct. NW in Gig Harbor, is hosting a free veterans benefits Q&A coffee on Oct. 23 at 10:00 a.m.   The informal discussion, led by veterans advocate John McNamera, will shed light on the little-known VA Aid & Attendance pension program, which provides eligible veterans and surviving spouses up to $2,582 per month, tax-free. The VA estimates that 100,000 people are eligible, but many are unaware these benefits exist.   To meet eligibility, a veteran must have served at least 90 days with one day during a declared war, among other requirements. This free event is designed to both educate veterans and families as well as help them navigate the sometimes difficult application process to ensure they are receiving the benefits they deserve.   The public is invited to attend. To RSVP, or to learn more, please call Peninsula at 253-858-4800.
