Fiesta Latina at Charles Wright Academy

Here's a fun pre-Mother's Day celebration. Bring your family to Fiesta Latina, a fun all-ages cultural celebration, happening at Charles Wright Academy. The community celebration is sponsored by Charles Wright's World Languages program.

Fiesta Latina features Latin music, Mexican Folk Dance performance, an all ages Latin dance party, and the North American premier of "The Last Frontier," a moving photography exhibit featuring works by renowned photographer Francisco Elias Prada.

Mother’s Day, which is Día de la Madre in Spanish, is one of the most important celebrations throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

Charles Wright Academy welcomes Tacoma/Pierce County families to join us as we celebrate Latin culture. Cuban singer and guitarrist Alejandro Fleites will perform from his repertory of Cuban, Caribbean, and Latin American pieces during a potluck lunch that begins at 12 p.m. (bring your favorite Latin dish), and Ballet Folklórico Guelaguetza will perform at 1 p.m. The group was founded in Seattle in 1991 and features children, teenagers, and adults. Then everyone is invited to stay for an all-ages Latin dance party from 2 to 4 p.m.!  This event is free and open to the public.
