"Growing Up" Classes

Pre-teens and their parents will soon be able to take an evening class at Annie Wright Schools that will help them successfully maneuver through adolescence together. “Growing Up” will be offered for both boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 12 by Great Conversations and is available for public registration.

The two-session classes, which often sell out, will be offered twice in 2013: The first session will take place January 15 and 22; the second session happens May 7 and 14. The course costs $70 for two sessions for one parent, or trusted adult, and one child for both evenings as well as a copy of the book Will Puberty Last My Whole Life?

Sessions for boys and girls will be held separately, and will address subjects from puberty, sexuality, parenting and other topics surrounding adolescence. The classes present an opportunity for pre-teens and parents to receive information in an engaging format and relaxed atmosphere. The instructors emphasize family communication and the need to support the youth through this process.
