VIDEO: Just How Do I Post An Announcement Or Press Release To University Place Patch?

Editor Brent Champaco explains how to get your announcement published. Watch the video for a step-by-step tutorial. (Hint - it's really easy)

Over the past year, I've heard from countless confused fans of University Place Patch ask the same question:

"I have something special to announce to Patch, but can you tell me how to post stuff?"

Typically, I've suggested that if someone has trouble navigating the site, simply send me the announcement and I'll publish it. It's worked well.

But we are all about interactivity and engagement at Patch. Heck, that's what separates us from other online publications - direct user engagement.

Patch sites are designed in a way that is easy for users to post their own announcement. It's all good. We want you to tell everyone about the marching band competition, the latest service project for the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new business in town or the soccer kick competition at the school fields.

Including a photo really makes a difference if you want to attract attention.

The announcement will go out with the newletter delivered early every morning. And if you uploaded a great photo, we may feature it on the front page.

We've provided this video tutorial (view it in the media gallery) on how you - yes, you, parents, teachers, kids, business owners, church groups and anyone else who enjoys Patch - to post an announcement.

If you want to just skip the video and get started right now, go to the News Tab, chooseΒ Announcements, and look for that green button labeled "Annouce it to Everyone." Start filling in the form. Your announcement will be posted as soon as you hit "submit."

Here's another hint - after you've posted, shoot me an e-mail at brent.champaco@patch.com, and I can feature it on the homepage.

I'll still post stuff, but I I hope University Place Patch becomes your soapbox to announce happenings in your life. Happy posting, UP.
