For the second time in three months, someone posing as a Tacoma Public Utilities employee tried to get inside a customer's home.
This time, the incident occurred in the North End of Tacoma, according to TPU's Facebook page. Here's what it posted:
A few nights ago, someone knocked on the door of a customer who lives in the North End of Tacoma. The person said he wanted to talk to her because he was doing electrical work that affects the lines feeding into her house. Thankfully, she didn't open the door.
This is a reminder that Tacoma Public Utilities employees rarely knock on customers' doors and do not ask to enter customers' homes. All employees wear clothing with the TPU, Tacoma Power, Tacoma Water or Tacoma Rail logo and carry a badge with their picture, employee number and name.
If someone suspicious knocks on your door and pretends to be a utility employee, please call the police.
We appreciate the customer who let us know about this situation and hope it helps you stay safe.
