Small Business Saturday is Coming: Share Favorite Places to Shop in Town

Tell us the best small businesses to shop at around University Place.

The Better Business Bureau is reminding people that Saturday is Small Business Saturday. Resting eagerly between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it is a chance, and effort, to urge consumers to shop local, and support those non-chain shops that dot our neighborhoods.

Since University Place Patch launched a little more than a year ago, we have focused on various small and popular businesses around town. Now we're asking you, our readers, which shops you plan to patronize on Small Business Saturday.

The Better Business Bureau is teaming up with American Express OPEN to spread the word on why small businesses "are so awesome." For the second year in a row, American Express OPEN has declared Saturday, Nov. 26, to be Small Business Saturday. To encourage its card holders to shop small, American Express is offering a one-time $25 statement credit when you register an eligible American Express® Card and use that Card for a purchase of $25 or more at a small business on Nov. 26. Registration is limited.

“It’s great to have a day that’s completely dedicated to the success of our small businesses and it’s even better to think that the success of this day could lead to the growth and prosperity of the small businesses in the days and years to follow,” said Stephen A. Cox, president and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus on the organization’s website. “We’d like to encourage our consumers to take advantage of this day and show support to the small businesses in their community.”
