Local Resident Certified By Sport and Exercise Psychology Organization

Performance enhancement specialist with the Army designated a Certificated Consultant with international group.

Eric Bean, a performance enhancement specialist with the United States Army and resident of University Place, was recently designated a Certified Consultant by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the international professional organization of sport and exercise psychology.

To earn the certification, Bean was required to meet AASP standards for education and training in sport sciences and psychology, and undergo a rigorous review process. In his role with the Army, he provides mental and emotional training to soldiers and elite performers.

Bean specializes in performance psychology for all levels of athletes, ranging from youth to professional sports. He also works with professionals in surgical, leadership development and teamwork fields.

In Bean’s own words, “I work with really, anyone interested in maximizing their performance on a consistent basis.”

Bean earned a doctorate of sport and exercise science from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in sport and exercise psychology from California State University.

Founded in 1986, the Association for Applied Sport Psychology promotes the ethical practice, science and advocacy of sport and exercise psychology. The organization has more than 1,500 members in 39 countries.
