University Place Patch is coming to the rescue. We have the best bets for your done-with-work, outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars, restaurants and shops to explore.

• Where/When: 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Sunday at the Puyallup Fair Grounds.
  
• Why Go: The Puyallup Fair is back! So grab your friends and family and head to Puyallup for all the attractions you'd expect plus a few extras. Activities and entertainment include animal shows, 4-H and FFA students competing, grange displays, home arts cooking contests and quilts, the International Photo Exhibition that draws entries from all corners of the globe, Hobby Hall, floral designs, and rides, including the new thrill ride, Vertigo. Patch will even have a booth at the Fiar this year so be sure to stop by to say hi while you pick up some free Patch swag.
• Cost: Admission ranges from $9 to $11. Kids under 5 are free.

• Where/When: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sat, Sept 11 at Sehmel Homestead Park in Gig Harbor.
• Why Go: Come join in on the canine fun at this community sponsored event. Non-profits, businesses and community groups are getting together to put on this event for furry family members or other furry friends. The carnival's activities will feature a beer garden, live music, animal-related entertainment stage, vendor booths, pet parade, disc dog show, agility demonstration, food concessions and lots of activities that will keep families and pets entertained.
• Cost: Admission is free.

17th Annual Cider Squeeze

• Where/When: 1-4 p.m. Sun, Sept 11 at Curran Apple Orchard.
• Why Go: Get your cider and apple pie fill at this years Cider Squeeze this Sunday. Just bring some clean jugs, pick your apples from the orchard, and then get-a-squeezing. You'll even get to meet Johnny Appleseed and the Big Apple while enjoying music by the Sunset Bible Bluegrass Band.
• Cost: Free.
  

Seahawks vs 49er's

• Where/When: 1 p.m. Sun, Sept 11 at in Lakewood.
• Why Go: Looking for a good spot to catch the first regular season game this Sunday? Check out The Fan Club, they have lots of TV's, a friendly atmosphere, great service and most importantly, a great Happy Hour on Sundays. GO SEAHAWKS!
• Cost: No cover. 

September 11th Ceremony

• Where/When: 7:28-8:30 a.m. Sun, Sept 11 at .
• Why Go: Join West Pierce Fire & Rescue in remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11 at this September 11th Ceremony. The ceremony begins at 7:28 a.m., the exact time the North Tower collapsed.  
• Cost: Free. Coffee and donuts will be served following the ceremony.
