Perhaps we don't notice because two of our very own are.

Still, it doesn't mean the community can't appreciate the talents of others, and you'll get the chance to so this weekend.

  • Where/When: 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 at .
  • Why Go: Source Yoga in University Place is hosting a very special evening of time honored cultural stories and songs by renowned flutist, Gary Stroutsos this Saturday night. Never heard of him? Check out this Youtube clip of Stroutsos in action.
  • Cost: Tickets are $15 and $20.

 

  • Where/When: 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at the Steilacoom Community Center.
  • Why Go: The Steilacoom Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual fund raising Spaghetti Dinner to provide scholarships for Steilacoom High School students this Friday. Enjoy a tasty spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, salad, dessert and beverages. Music will be provided by Larry Juhnke. During the dinner, the Steilacoom Tribal Museum will hold a silent and live auction to raise funds to refurbish the Tribal Museum.
  • Cost: Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under age 12.

 

  • Where/When: 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at the University of Puget Sound's Schneebeck Concert Hall.
  • Why Go: Join the University of Puget Sound's Symphony Orchestra this Friday for a free concert featuring Concerto-Aria winner Rhiannon Guevin. Curious about what you'll see? Here's a sneak peak.
  • Cost: Free.

 

  • Where/When: 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the .
  • Why Go: The Lakewood History Museum will debut its new exhibit on the Incorporation of the City of Lakewood with a ribbon cutting at 1 pm followed by a reception. Lakewood artist, Shirley Petersen, has her work on display in the Artist's Corner.
  • Cost: Free and open to the public.

 

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at Emerald Queen Casino.
  • Why Go: Looking for a little excitement this weekend? A night of Mixed Martial Arts action might do the trick. The fight card for CageSport XIV is stacked, 10 fights in total, including one championship bout. Not exactly sure what Mixed Martial Arts is all about? This highlight video from YouTube should help you figure it out. (Note: Some scenes are graphic.)
  • Cost: Ticket prices are $35, $55 and $100.
